Add LTSP Client

We will add the Client PCs that boot from network to the management of LServerAdmin application. This will provide us with the below functionality.

  • Shutdown, restart or boot Client PCs remotely
  • Client PCs will be automatically configured to be handled by italc.

Add new Client - LTSP client

We do the following:

  1. We boot the Client PC from network.
  2. We go to menu LAN / Edit PCs and Groups / Edit Client PCs / Add PC - OS / Add PC - OS LTSP client
  3. We select New PC and then the group where it belongs. If no group has been created yet, we select No group. We can transfer the PC to a group later.
  4. Next a list with the Client PCs detected on local network, is shown to us. We select the Client PC we want to add, detecting from the ip address or the mac address of its network card. Ip address is similar to the automatic name that is shown on the linux ltsp login page on the client PC on the bottom right, e.g. ltsp200 has an ip of 192.168.10.200

Add existing client PC as LTSP client

If we have a local OS installed on a client PC and has already been added to LServerAdmin management with that OS, it can be added also as LTSP client

This gives us the ability, in case of temporary problem with the local installation, to boot from networ and be able to be controlled from italc as ltsp clients also.

Procedure is the same as the previous one, with the difference in step 4 where we select Managed Client PC list, and next we select the PC we have already added in LServerAdmin administration.
