Connect to Server PC

Locally

We can connect from server PC itself, if keyboard, mouse and monitor are available.

From server PC via browser

  • We connect with username user on LXDE graphical environment.
  • We start firefox
  • From Bookmarks we select address https://hosta:8006
  • We connect as root
  • On the left pane we select Datacenter and we double click on hosta

Here we can see the running virtual machines.

We will talk later on their functionality and how to start, restart and shutdown these virtual machines.

From another PC on local network

We can also connect from any PC on local network. The PC can be running

  1. Linux or Windows local installation or
  2. boot from network as a thin client

We prefer 1st option so that we can shutdown or restart any virtual machines if needed (on a thin client connection would be lost if we restart the virtual machine we are working remotely to).

We connect to a PC with our own account or if we don't have one yet, we connect as user teacher

  • We open a browser (firefox is recommended) and on the address we type https://hosta:8006
  • We connect as root

From Internet

We can also connect via Internet from anywhere. We should know the internet address of the server and the external port of shellinabox.

For example if server internet address is myinternetaddress.com and external port is 18006 we connect as follow
